Interesting Facts:Vogels is one of Australia's great classics riders and is one of the world's best lead out men. He embraced this role during the past two seasons, leading Davitamon-Lotto teammate Robbie McEwen to multiple wins, including six at the Giro D'Italia. He spent five seasons racing for American teams from 2000-2004, winning both the USPRO Road and Criterium Championships. He has also amassed an impressive race resume since his pro debut in 1995, with podium finishes all over the world, including a third place stage finish at the 1997 Tour de France, a stage win at the 2003 Tour de Georgia and four top 10 career finishes at the Giro d'Italia. Despite his numerous cycling accolades, his greatest achievement to date has been his remarkable recovery from a near-fatal crash in 2003 that caused him severe head, spine and ankle injuries. Left with advanced arthritis and six screws in his left ankle, Vogels had to undergo intensive rehabilitation. After a heavy winter training program back home in Australia, Vogels is ready to have a stellar 2008 season. He resides in Boulder, CO with his wife Cindy and their three children.
